Pick Up and Drop Off

A top priority at Blue Grass Elementary School is to have excellent school safety.  To make sure this happens in the parking lot, we ask that you follow these procedures when dropping off and picking up your student.  

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

DROP OFF between 8:45-9:05am
Drop off in a vehicle (6E DOOR)-As you enter the parking lot between 8:45-9:05am, follow the arrows to the South end by the playground.  Students should:  exit the passenger side of the car, walk up the sidewalk to the crosswalk lines/crossing guards, then cross and enter the building in the 6E bus doors.  
*There is no stopping or parking along the yellow curb/fire lanes.  The handicapped parking area is not a drop off or pick up location.  If you have a child that needs help getting out of the car, please use one of the parking spaces to park and assist to help keep the drop off line moving.  
Walkers (1E DOOR)-Students should stay on sidewalks and enter the 1E front doors of the building between 8:45-9:05am.  
Bus riders (6E DOOR)-Students will be dropped off in our bus circle between 8:45-9:05am and enter the 6E bus doors.
Late students (1E DOOR)-must come through the 1E front doors of the school and check in the office for a pass.  Parents/guardians should call the school before 9:00am, if student will be absent.
BEFORE SCHOOL SUPERVISION
Students should arrive to school between 8:45-9:05am.  There is no supervision until that time.  Breakfast begins at 8:45am-9:05am.  The tardy bell is at 9:05am.  

Afternoon Pick-up Procedures

PICK UP between 3:50-4:00pm
Students getting home safely is incredibly important.  We ask students to go right home after school.  Students are not allowed to stay on school grounds after school without a parent/guardian supervising.  Students should know how they are getting home each day and who is picking them up.  Communicating this before the school day is very important.  
Vehicle pick up-Students will exit the 6E bus doors and use the crosswalk to get to their vehicle.  Parents are encouraged to park their cars and wait for students at the picnic tables outside of the school.  Students must be picked up by a parent/guardian approved driver.  
Bus riders-Students will exit the 6E doors and walk around the buses on the grass to load in the bus circle.
Walkers-Students will exit out the 1E front doors of the building.  Students will be asked to stay on the sidewalks and walk safely home staying out of the street and parking lot.
Picking up early-We ask parents to call ahead of time and let the office know what time the early pick up will be.  Parents/guardians must sign the student out in the office prior to the student leaving campus.  

If your student has parent permission to ride their bike to school, there is a bike rack located in the handicap parking lot that they can park their bike at throughout the day.  Students riding their bike must use sidewalk etiquette when arriving and exiting the school (i.e. watching for walkers, staying out of the street).
